DACH Wounded Warriors

Democrats Abroad Switzerland will be visiting wounded American soldiers at the US Military Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany on Saturday December 12th. This base is their first stop on their way home from Iraq and Afghanistan.

We will be spending time with the wounded men and women and delivering 2 foosball tables that were donated to the hospital by "Switzerland for Obama" funds raised on election night 2008 in Geneva.

We are happy to bring up care packages for the soldiers and deliver them on your behalf. Several people have already offered to donate home baked cookies, newly bought items they need (see attached flyer for full list of things the soldiers need right now) and money that we can pool together to buy some of these items. We are also happy to take up letters and cards you want to write the soldiers. Check out www.democrats.ch for details on what to write and ideas for what to include in a care package.

If you are interested in providing items for the care packages or want to otherwise participate, please contact Nhien Truong at dems4ww@gmail.com or +41 78 802 5758.

Please spread the word and print out the flyer to share with any colleagues or friends who may wish to take part!

"If you make it to Landstuhl, you're good to go. It was an article of faith among the Marine infantrymen in Iraq that if the corpsman plugged up the hole to keep you from bleeding out, and the field surgeons stitched up the important organs, and the Air Force got you all the way to the Army hospital in Landstuhl, Germany, then you'd live. You might not be the same ... But you'd survive and eventually get home ..." - Michael M. Phillips, The Gift of Valor
