DA Chile is taking part in the Democrats Abroad Global Presidential Primary in March and we invite all US citizens in Chile to cast their ballot and enjoy the company of like-minded expats! 

What is the Global Presidential Primary? 
The GPP allows you to vote one of the Democratic presidential primary candidates directly from Chile. Democrats Abroad International is allotted 22 delegates to send to the Democratic National Convention to nominate the next Democratic presidential candidate, meaning your vote most likely has greater weight in the GPP than in your home state's local primary! Remember that by voting in the GPP, you give Democratic expats - and our policy goals like repealing FATCA - a stronger voice within the DNC and on the domestic political stage. 

How do I vote in the GPP from Chile? 
There are three ways you can vote in the presidential primary from Chile: 
1. Join us on Wednesday, March 2, at Carlos Antunez 2150, Depto 905, Providencia (metro Pedro de Valdivia) from 7:00 - 10:00 pm to vote for your candidate in person, say hi, enjoy some light refreshments and receive your I voted sticker! Bike parking is available. 
2. If you can't make it to Providencia on March 2, download a remote ballot here and send it via snail mail to DA Chile Chair Brittany Brown at the above address by March 8.
3. If you'd prefer, you can also download a remote ballot here and send a scanned copy via email to [email protected]

Is it too late for my friend/child/coworker to vote with DA Chile? 
NO! Any American citizen living in Chile, who will be at least 18 years old on Election Day 2016, and who is a member of Democrats Abroad is eligible to participate, on the condition of not having voted (or intending to vote) for a presidential candidate in any other state primary in 2016. To become a member of Democrats Abroad Chile, just visit www.democratsabroad.org/join and choose Chile as your country. 

What information is required on my GPP ballot? 
Your full legal name, date of birth, your country of residence (Chile), address of residence in Chile, voting address in the US (or at the very least, the state in which you vote), and if you are returning it by email, your email address. You must also sign and date your ballot for it to be valid. 

What about the other primaries in my home state? 

The GPP is a PRESIDENTIAL primary. If you vote for a presidential candidate in our Global Primary, then you cannot vote for a presidential candidate in your home state primary. However, you may vote for Senator, Congressional Representative, Governor, etc. in your home state primary. You will first need to contact your home state Democratic Party for the regulations for voter eligibility, remote participation, and the use of absentee ballots, and then request an absentee ballot from your home state. Each state is different, and each state party has their own set of rules governing their primary election.
