Every year Democrats Abroad Germany gathers in person to discuss issues back home and plan our activities for the coming year. This year, the main focus of this meeting will be the election of our new Executive Committee (ExCom). This meeting also is a chance to learn more about how you can be an active part of the organization, meet other democrats living in Germany and give your input on the DAG political process.

Participants are welcome to arrive in Heidelberg on Friday, February 22nd to attend a welcome reception hosted by the Heidelberg chapter at the Center for American Studies. Snacks and drinks will be available and there will be a performance by Die Schrillmänner, a barber shop quartet including a Heidelberg member.

The official meeting will begin Saturday morning at the Heidelberg Center for American Studies. Throughout the day, there will be a book sale to help fundraise for the Heidelberg Chapter. Our meeting on Saturday will focus on the goals of DAG for 2019 and how we want to begin our preparations for 2020. We will organize several breakout sessions for Saturday morning and then Saturday afternoon will be focused on electing the new Executive Committee, which will be responsible for leading DAG for the next two years.

On Saturday evening, we will have a dinner at Palais Prinz Carl featuring guest speaker Victoria Zyp, an experienced movement builder and trainer across many advocacy settings, in the United States and abroad. She has managed electoral and legislative advocacy programs for campaigns from the local to national level. Currently, Victoria works for the National Democratic Institute in Algeria, where she leads technical assistance programs to Algerian political parties. We will also announce the winners of the raffle prizes and have a dance.
