Obama Touts Growing Friendship with Turkey

Speaking in Muslim-dominated Turkey, President Obama acknowledged that relations between the United States and the Muslim world has been strained. So he said, "Let me say this as clearly as I can: The United States is not at war with Islam." In fact, Obama said, the partnership between the U.S. and the Muslim world is critical in rolling back what he called a fringe ideology that people of all faiths reject. He went on to say; "The United States has been enriched by Muslim Americans.

Obama Launches Nuclear-free World Doctrine

Declaring it "matters to all people everywhere," President Barack Obama promised today to lead the world into a nuclear-free future, giving a hawkish edge to a peacenik pursuit even as North Korea upstaged him with the launch of a long-range rocket that theoretically could carry a warhead. The launch appears to have failed to reach orbit and crashed outside Japan in the Pacific ocean. Obama made his pledge before 30,000 flag-waving Czechs outside the gates of picturesque Prague Castle.

The People’s First Lady

Rarely do I post anything that discusses anything other than Barack Obama. But President Obama and the First Lady, Michelle Obama, both, have taken the stage in Europe. While the G-20 Summit frames the visit by the American President, Michelle Obama has become an iconic presence. Like Jacqueline Kennedy or even Princess Diana of Great Britain, Mrs. Obama is known for her compassion, style, charisma - and her high profile marriage. The public stage of 2009 is as broad as the planet, with the play being broadcast around the globe in real time.

President Obama's visit to the United Kingdom

President Obama will be in the UK this week for the G-20 meeting to address the global economic crisis.

From the outset, this trip has been designated a 'Presidential' trip with no political dimension included.  It is unlikely that the President or any of the high-level officials traveling with him will meet with anyone but those governmental officials who are attending the G-20 meeting.

We will, however, keep you informed if there is any change in the current planning of the President's itinerary.
