Democrats Abroad Austria is happy to be involved in the 21st annual Regenbogenparade in Vienna. This year’s parade begins at 3 pm at the Sigmund-Freud-Park (Schottengasse), where from 10 am the warm-up takes place at the Pride Park and gets moving in the direction of traffic. The route passes the Börse (the stock exchange), Franz-Josefs-Kai, Schwedenplatz, Urania, Stubenring, the Opera, the Parliament and the University, before returning to Sigmund-Freud-Park. Here the final rally – the so-called Celebration – will take place, including speeches as well as national and international live acts.

DAA Review

Democrats Abroad Global Convention in Berlin

From May 12th-15th, Democrats Abroad held our Global Convention in Berlin, where we elected our delegates for the Democratic National Convention in July. Representing Austria were Chair Keith Jacomine, Vice Chair Ashley E. Arreola, and Databank Manager & Executive Committee member Mary Ann Balko-Koch. The Convention was held at the Willy-Brandt-Haus, home to the SPD, and we were welcomed by many guest speakers including the former Ambassador, the Honorable John Kornblum, the current Deputy Chief of Mission in the American Embassy Kent Logsdon, and a member of the German Parliament, the Honorable Niels Annen, who serves as a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Bundestag. It was a truly wonderful occasion and simply exciting to meet DA leaders from all around the globe, as well as experience democracy first-hand during our long & sometimes complicated election process. For full results on the elections, please visit our website to see the full list: Results from the DA Global Convention
