Join us to watch President Obama receive the Nobel Peace Prize in the beautiful, historical setting of the Nobel Museum, Börshuset, Stortorget, Gamla Stan, in Stockholm.
This will take place on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 12:45 pm. Peter Zander from the Nobel Museum will give a brief introduction, and from 1:00-2:00 pm there will be live streaming of the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony in Oslo, including the Nobel Lecture. Admission is free, but you must contact me at secretary@democratsabroad.se by Monday, December 7 to let me know that you are coming. Those who sign up will also receive a free copy of "The Nobelprize.org Guide to the 2009 Nobel Laureates", a wonderful keepsake.
There will be free Nobel Lectures in Stockholm all week, starting December 7. Please visit this link to read all the information:

You must sign up for each lecture at the designated email address. (This is for private citizens, as well as the press.)
For those who do not live in Stockholm, or cannot attend, the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony and the Nobel Lecture will also be available as video-on-demand on http://nobelprize.org/
In keeping with President Obama's Call to Service in the Community (http://serve.gov/)
Democrats Abroad Sweden members will be provided with opportunities to serve the Swedish Community throughout 2010. To that end we have been working with the Swedish Red Cross and here is an opportunity to help before the end of 2009.
The Red Cross is very active in social work in Sweden - especially activities for the elderly and immigrants. At Christmas, The Red Cross raises funds for its social work and they would be very thankful if we can help (Swedish is not needed).
From December 2-5, the Red Cross will have a fundraising event in Skärholmen Centrum. They will sell gift wrapping for Christmas gifts and have a Christmas card workshop where visitors can create their own Christmas greetings. This is all for the purpose of raising funds for the Red Cross' social work and for spreading information about the Red Cross and its work in Sweden.
Volunteers will work in two hour shifts. If you can join us, these are the shifts we need to cover:
Wednesday 2 December through Friday 4 December: 4:00-6:00 Pm or 6:00-8:00 pm
Saturday 5 December: 10:00 am-12:00 pm, 12:00-2:00 pm, 2:00-4:00 pm or 4:00-6:00 pm
Sunday 6 December: 12:00-2:00 pm, 2:00-4:00 pm or 4:00-6:00 pm
If you would like to help, please include your mobile number in your reply to dashalland@gmail.com , so that th Red Cross can get in touch with you if necessary.
This event is located in Skärholmens Centrum (T-bana Skärholmen), Bredholmsgången - outside the public library.
