As you know, Democrats Abroad hosted two international Keep the Congress teleconferences on Monday, June 14, 2010, featuring several candidates in exciting Congressional races. One of the candidates who spoke on our call was Tarryl Clark, MN-06.
Check out this Fox News piece on her opponent, U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann. Two commentators, Bill O'Reilly and Geraldo Rivera, have pushed back against the Minnesota Republican for calling BP's $20 billion escrow fund "extortion" by the Obama administration.
"Whoa, I mean, extortion? Shakedown? Look, if the executive branch, the presidency, isn't going to force BP to pony up the money, who would?" O'Reilly asked Bachmann at the start of their interview.
Rivera told Bachmann his show was a fan of hers, "but clearly, by comparing the White House negotiations for a $20 billion escrow account to extortion, you have overstepped the bounds of even rhetoric."
You can see it for yourself at here. (The interview starts at the 3:59 mark.)
So while Republicans are falling over themselves with their gushing apologies--or not, in Bachmann's case--take a stand and request your absentee ballot at votefromabroad.org now.
