The Strasbourg chapter is going to be host to our next on MULTINATIONAL Democrats Abroad Get-together on Saturday MAY 24.
We are so excited about the big
increase in DA membership worldwide, including Strasbourg and
neighboring chapters. We would like to celebrate on Memorial Day Weekend by inviting fellow DA members old and new from Stuttgart, Geneva, Luxembourg, Kaiserslautern, Heidelberg, Basel, Freiburg and Frankfurt
to spend the Saturady afternoon with us at the symbolically named
Jardin des Deux Rives (the French-German public park that spans both
sides of the Rhine).
In the morning
there will also be a guided tour of Strasbourg (Cathedral, Petite
France, etc.) for our guests and any local members who'd like to join
We’ve reserved a picnic spot just outside the Youth Hostel in the JARDIN DES DEUX RIVES (with an indoor room in case of rain), after THE MEETING OF THE DEMS halfway across the river on the Mimran footbridge.
Program (so far) –
10:45 meet at Office du
Tourisme, Strasbourg (next to the Cathedral) for a City Tour offered by
chapter secretary Viv Beller (certified Strasbourg visitors’ guide).
13:00 tour ends, take city bus to Kehl, walk over to Mimran footbridge.
14:00 Strasbourg chapter crosses footbridge from French side to greet visitors.
14 – 17 or later (we have the area until sundown) - Picnic, maybe some entertainment, Alsatian wine-tasting and just plain socializing. An opportunity to exchange ideas too on getting out the vote. And as always, information and support on Voter Registration.
Requested contribution of 10 euros to cover expenses (students: 5 euros).
