-- Monday, 3 November --
The Last Bush Blast
Please stop by the Corner Club after work on Monday (5-7 pm) to toast the end of the Bush administration with a delicious cocktail and fellow Democrats.
It's Halloween week - put thought into your scariest Bush moment from the last 8 years - we'll drink it away on Monday!
The Corner Club is located on Turl Street, near the covered market.
-- Tuesday, 4 November – Election watch parties --
The Oxford Union*
Watch the most important Presidential Election at the Oxford Union. Follow the action as it happens on a huge screen whilst enjoying fine food and beverages from across the pond.
Also included: a panel on the election (9:30 PM) to include Peter Jay (Former British Ambassador to the USA and Economics Editor of the BBC), Godfrey Hodgson (Former Observer journalist and historian), Avner Offe (Professor of Economic History, Oxford University) and Simon Head (journalist), followed by a mock presidential debate.
*Note: all tickets reserved for Democrats Abroad members have been reserved.
The Corner Club**
We also have a private venue for a more intimate/cozy Election Night returns party: the Corner Club on Turl Street.
www.thecornerclub.co.uk
£10 cover charge includes a light sandwich and one beer, wine or soda. Come anytime after 10pm and stay (cheering!) very late.
The kitchen will be open for purchasing nibbles (chips, nuts, olives, cake) and hot drinks too. Last call for alcohol is 2:30am.
The Corner Club is wireless so we can watch on laptops (bring yours!) in the Club room upstairs and their big screen TV (BBC) in the Turl Room. The party will keep going as long as we stay awake celebrating!
** Note: there are a few spaces left for the Corner Club election night party, so please RSVP if you'd like to reserve a ticket.
