Election Day Message from the DAUK Chair

And now we wait.

It has been a long, exhausting—but exhilarating—campaign. And now, our country—yearning for new leadership, for an end to the failures at home and abroad of the last eight years and facing an unparalleled economic crisis—waits for the voter’s verdict.

And we wait—with both hope and positive anticipation.

As Democrats and as Americans, we can take pride in the caliber of candidates we presented to the nation and in the extraordinary qualities possessed by our nominee. Senator Obama has reminded us that, together, we can bridge the rifts of past partisanship, can overcome the divisions of race and region, and bring a sense of hope and needed change to our nation.

To all of you, who have worked so hard and hoped so much—THANK YOU.

Simple words that convey a depth of heartfelt gratitude to all who have, through word and deed, helped make this possible.

Democratically yours,

Bill Barnard
Chair, Democrats Abroad UK
