On May 24, 2009 Democrats Abroad Canada (DAC) will elect a new Executive Committee, composed of five elected Officers – Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and Counsel - and up to twelve (12) Members-at-Large, who may also be Chapter Chairs.

The Deadline for Nominations is the end of day on Thursday, April 9, 2009.

Nominations, in the form of a letter, can be sent by email, Canada Post or fax to the Chair of the Nominating Committee (see below for details). Any DAC member may nominate a candidate and may also self-nominate. Each Nominee must, no later than Thursday, April 9, 2009, deliver in writing to the Chair of the Nominating Committee (1) a statement confirming the Nominee's willingness to stand and serve if elected, and (2) a brief statement of the Nominee's interest, relevant experience and the skills, abilities, and available time that the Nominee would be able to bring to work on the Executive Committee. The term of office for the newly elected Executive Committee will begin with the close of the election at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 24, 2009.



As provided by the DAC Bylaws, Ballots for these Offices may be returned only by email, fax, post or in person at the AGM.

On or before April 24, Ballots will be sent with a Notice of the AGM and the List of Candidates by email to all DAC members. Members without email may request to receive the Notice, Ballot and List of Candidates by post.  The Ballot return postal address, email address and fax return number will also accompany the delivery of the blank Ballot.



Under the rules of the Democratic National Committee, of which Democrats Abroad is a constituent part, all Ballots must be signed and are open for review.



The Nominating Committee will post the names and the statements of all candidates on this official DAC website (democratsabroad.org) with the Notice of Election.
