For the Record: The Uniting American Families Act and Inequalities in Federal Immigration Law

On June 3rd, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on UAFA entitled "The Uniting American Families Act: Addressing Inequality in Federal Immigration Law”.

Robert Checkoway, International Vice Chair, submitted a statement of record on behalf of Democrats Abroad.  Available here, his testimony speaks to the fair treatment of LGBT Americans in our immigration system and calls for reform which ensures that all Americans can return home with their permanent partners and spouses.

Democrats Abroad first adopted a resolution calling on Congress to pass the Uniting American Families Act in March, 2006, and continues to work on this important issue.

The hearing starts at 10AM EDT, Wednesday, June 3. It will be broadcast live on C-SPAN and webcast live on the Judiciary Committee's website:
