Please read the following Op Ed piece from the Washington Post:
Although we are currently focused on supporting the passage of health care reform legislation being debated in Congress, and I do not want to draw strength away from that, I nevertheless feel that we should immediately send a strong message to President Obama - both as individuals and as a group - denouncing any attempt to create a non-judicial detention rational based upon executive order.
It is my belief that we should emphasize two very salient points:
1. That we do not accept indefinite detention of terrorist suspects without due process of civil law, not military tribunal;
2. That we don not accept the use and abuse of executive orders to circumvent what is properly the competency of Congress to pass laws and the Judiciary to execute them.
