The Madrid chapter of Democrats Abroad enjoyed a very nice 4th of July 2009 celebration in the municipal park,  Parque del Oeste, a few steps from the Templo de Debod.  Members  Nika Cleveland, Susan Burke, and Valerie Forbes organized a lovely picnic. In addition to the delicious array of food and beverages brought by approximately 40 people, those attending the event  participated in  a white elephant give-away and book exchange as well as frisbee, kickball and other outdoor park-type games. Fun was had by all on a day we all remember fondly in the US enjoyed among family and  friends.
