DAA Review - October Meet-Up: Democrats Abroad Turns 45
DAALogo.jpg

At the meet-up on October 27 we had the pleasure of Antje Lewis recounting the origins and history of DA Austria. Appropriately, Antje had mounted her hand-sewn "Bush Busters" banner, and told of the attention it had attracted at the Volkstheater. Hard to believe how much has happened since 2003!

Some of the attending members commented on and added to Antje's remarks. We also watched a video from DPCA - despite a technological glitch (our vice-chair thought beamers were idiot-proof).The video reminded us that US citizens living abroad were not able to vote when DA was first established in 1964, since most states didn't authorize absentee ballots for overseas residents.

The evening was a combination of enlightenment for some and a trip down memory lane for others. Thanks to Antje, Kristin for their inputs, and also to Robert et al for the technical efforts. Special thanks to Katie for her creative poster depicting the history of Democrats Abroad Austria with an impressive array of photos and documents.
