DA Barcelona hosts Hon. Crisanta Duran, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Colorado
Please join us as Democrats Abroad Spain - Barcelona Chapter welcomes to Barcelona the Honorable Crisanta Duran, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the State of Colorado.
Ms. Duran is the 58th Speaker of the House of Representatives for the State of Colorado, the first Latina to hold the top government position in the state’s history.
First elected in 2010, Speaker Duran is on her fourth and final two-year term representing House District 5 in central Denver. During her tenure in the House, she has served as chair of the powerful Joint Budget Committee and Majority Leader – also the first-ever Latina to have held those leadership roles in Colorado.
Speaker Duran is the recipient of the national Emily’s List Rising Star Award and currently serves on the boards of the National Association of Latino Elected & Appointed Officials and Hispanic Caucus Chairs.
She is a sixth-generation Coloradoan with a law degree from the University of Colorado and bachelor’s degree in public policy and Spanish from the University of Denver.
