I. GOTV Corner

Election season is upon us!

In addition to special elections taking place in Ohio (CD-11 and CD-15) and Florida(CD-20), Virginia and New Jersey will be (re-)electing their governors and state representatives on November 2.

Democratic Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey, the former ambassador to Germany, is ahead in the polls, but taking nothing for granted. The Virginia contest between the former Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe and Trump acolyte Todd Youngkin is, as of this writing, too close to call.

If you vote in any of these states or districts and have not yet returned your ballot, please reach out to [email protected] right away! There might still be time to get your voice heard.

The results of the November 2 contests will be key to understanding where we find ourselves one year out from 2022, the most important midterm election of our lifetimes.

With challenges to voter access multiplying by the day, it has never been more crucial that overseas voters get registered, request their ballots, and send them back.

In the spirit of the season, we’d like to GIVE THANKS to all of you who have placed calls, colored cards, held gatherings, got out on the streets, and spread the word online this year. If you would like more postcards – for yourself or a postcarding party! – reach out to your chapter chair or send an email to [email protected].

Stay tuned for more opportunities to get involved in 2022!

With thanks for all you do,

Your GOTV Team

II. Support DA Germany

At the end of this month, on November 30, DAG is celebrating Giving Tuesday! On this #GivingTuesday, we would like to invite each of you to participate in our crowdfunding effort by signing up to be a sustaining donor or making a one-time donation to DAG! If you’re already a sustaining donor, we encourage you to consider increasing your donation.

As a result of COVID-19, we’ve raised only one-third of what DAG raised in 2019 through our large fundraisers, such as our Annual General Meeting and Oktoberfest. Despite all the challenges this pandemic has brought, we still have a lot of work to do next year to make sure Americans abroad turn out to vote in the 2022 midterms. Your donations now will go a long way to ensuring we have the resources we need to reach Americans.

To support our efforts, we welcome your automated monthly donations of any size (Dauerauftrag). And, as always, if you’d rather make a one-time gift, it will also be put to good use. We appreciate your financial support! #TogetherWeGive

If you would like to give to DAG, please direct your donation to the following account:

Account name: Democrats Abroad Germany

IBAN: DE04 5405 0220 0140 2702 99

Also, make sure to check out our Swag Shop to show off your DA pride. All proceeds benefit DA Germany and help us get out the vote.

III. Meet Our Chairs

Join Kenton Barnes, DA Germany Chair, and Emily Lines, DA Germany Vice Chair, for an online Meet and Greet on Saturday, November 20, from 3:00-4:30 p.m. We'll discuss our organization's structure and goals, introduce ourselves as the leaders of DA Germany, and discuss ways you can get involved as a volunteer with DA Germany and with your local chapter. It's going to be all hands on deck for 2022, so join us to learn how you can help make sure Democrats win in 2022.

Whether you're a long-time member or completely new to DA Germany, we warmly welcome all members to join us for this afternoon event. We hope to answer any questions you may have about DA Germany, as well as foster a lively, productive discussion with each other.

Please RSVP to receive the connection information.

V. Caucus Corner

Hi all, this is DAG Caucus Coordinator Kaili Morris. Welcome back to the Caucus Corner. I am not sure about you, but November is my favorite month. The leaves have hit peak color, it’s almost time to break out the Glühwein, and we are all gearing up for end-of-year festivities. I suspect as the weather gets colder, we are also spending a bit more time inside.

If you’re looking for some ideas on what to do this fall, here are a couple for you:

  • Join our caucus meeting Wednesday, November 3 at 4:00 p.m. where we will meet to plan and coordinate a collaborative caucus event focused on the ways the healthcare system impacts Americans. If you’re interested in participating or sharing your ideas, please email [email protected] for an invitation.
  • Start early on your “New Years” resolution and use any of the links below to join the caucus you planned to get involved with in 2022.
  • Write a postcard to your representatives about an issue or policy you care about.
  • Stay up to date with the VMF caucus on their blog during Military Families Month.
  • Make sure to return your ballot if you have received one for any local elections. Election Day is November 2!
  • Keep an eye out for upcoming caucus announcements on DAG Social Media and in your email inbox.

All of our caucuses are always looking for more volunteer support. To get involved, please reach out by email to [email protected].

You can also click on any of the caucus links to visit the global caucus pages to learn more. Sign up to make sure you are able to receive updates and announcements!
