On  Saturday July 20, 2024, a beautiful afternoon, Democrats Abroad Luxembourg staked a tent on the Grand Rue of Luxembourg City to fish for Americans that have not yet registered to vote. It was the weekend of the Blues and Jazz Rally bringing more Americans to town.

With our conspicuous tent at a busy foot traffic intersection, we were sure to catch the eye of many Americans, and sure enough we did. We interacted with 18 Americans who were not yet registered to vote.

Of these people most were Americans living abroad but not in Luxembourg e.g. Germany of France. They were visiting Luxembourg. We had several well-wishers that were not American. And several more that had a boyfriend, wife etc. that are American citizens, but not registered to vote. We gave these people cards that explained the registration process so they could do this themselves.

It is encouraged that everyone should register every year to make sure election authorities get your ballots to you in a timely manner and that you can participate in special elections, if any.

The registration process is quite simple

• Go to the website mentioned above
• Complete the ballot request. Some states require that it is printed out, but most allow you to do this by email.
• When you receive your ballot, shape the future.

While VFA is a feature of democratic party, we assist any American that wants to vote.

All in all, it was a successful day, and we are looking for several more of these events leading up to the election. Look for the call for volunteers in our email blasts.
