As well as a monthly virtual speakeasy we are pleased that some long overdue first of many in-person events kinking off in Glasgow’s West End, Wednesday September 13th @ Banana Moon, (see below).
This is basically an open to all ideas for discussion but my suggestion is that we kick off with a theme, and as you will hear in more detail in our next newsletter we have decided that this Fall’s theme is ‘(How to) Fight the fog of babble!’
Let’s face it there is a lot happening in America and The World that frankly scares the bejesus out of us. Add to that to that, the foggy climate of monetised whataboutism, battering people into a state of permanent exhaustion. It is no surprise that watching, listening, reading and talking to people about anything remotely political, can be upsetting, frustrating and exhausting. Looking at America at the moment, well it’s not exactly fun ™, is it? Babble, is how I choose to describe the symptom or the ‘product’ this useless and destructive industry creates.
On the flip side, I am hopeful because facts remain facts. I am also hopeful, because most Democrats can see that. Where I think we can all improve ourselves and contribute and thus help our party, our country and as a direct consequence of America’s position, the World, is by rethinking how we look through the fog and communicate, in a way that is not just clear but perhaps stimulating and, who knows, fun?
