Maintain the Dream - Lyon

Democrats Abroad France – Lyon Chapter will celebrate the vision and words of the great civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. on the anniversary of his historic speech « I Have a Dream. »  On this occasion, we will read the entirety of his speech beside the bust that commemorates MLK Jr. here in Lyon’s 3rd arrondissement.

This will also be an opportunity to peacefully express our rejection of hatred, bigotry and racism in the wake of the events in Charlottesville.

This event has been inspired by DA Strasbourg’s Patrick Ganne, who wrote:

"(we) will gather on Monday, August 28th …to participate in the reading of MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech which he delivered fifty four years ago on August 28th in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C."

"Our gesture may be small but it is our effort to show to the people of Strasbourg that the Klu Klux Klan, the Nazis and the white supremacists have no place in the American Democracy and are to be denounced by all at every opportunity."

"August 28th is such an opportunity, please join us in supporting and maintaining the DREAM.”

The same event will be held by Democrats Abroad France in Lyon, Strasbourg and Toulouse.  Come to show your solidarity with fellow Americans in the US and in France.
