Lots of candidates, debates, and headlines – it’s exhausting to keep track of it all. To prepare ourselves for the upcoming primary, DA Stuttgart is hosting two rounds of Candidates and Coffee in which volunteers have chosen to be our “candidate experts” for each of the primary candidates. Members are invited come grab a cup of coffee and ask questions about where the candidates stand on certain issues.
The premise of these informal get-togethers is to provide our chapter members with the opportunity to educate each other on the various positions of each of the primary candidates. The candidate experts won't be campaigning for anyone, but rather reading up on the positions of their chosen candidate and then answering questions that members have to the best of their ability.
We certainly aren't expecting anyone to know everything about their candidate, but we think it's useful for us to make a good-faith effort to create a comfortable space wherein our membership can better inform themselves before making a choice in the upcoming primary.
In order for this to be fair and unbiased, we will have one candidate expert for all 11 of the candidates who have qualified for the DA primary ballot.
At the Candidates and Coffee event on Sunday, February 2, we will have volunteers present for the following candidates:
- Michael Bennet
- Pete Buttigieg
- Amy Klobuchar
- Deval Patrick
- Elizabeth Warren
- Andrew Yang
The remaining candidates will have experts for the next Candidates and Coffee event in a few weeks (details coming soon). If you’d like to be a candidate expert for one of the remaining people or you have questions about the event, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We will meet on the first floor (upstairs) of the Starbucks just off of Schlossplatz in Stuttgart. Candidate experts will have signs on their tables to make it easier to find them.
