Due to expected delays and snarls in the US Postal Service, you need to vote as soon as possible!
Do not wait in the hopes that your state ballot arrives in time. Vote using a Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot.
This serves as a backup in case your state ballot does not arrive in time.
Any voter who believes that his or her ballot will not arrive in time to meet the deadline for ballot submission is entitled to fill out and send in an FWAB.
If you haven't already done so, mail your FWAB no later than Sept. 3, two months before the election. Whatever you do, DO NOT wait until Sept. 19 to receive your ballot. Send in your FWAB by Sept. 3.
- Fill out your FWAB here.
- Print the form.
- Send it in.
You have three options for sending your FWAB in:
1. Place your completed ballot in a postage-paid envelope addressed to your local election officials. Then, place the sealed envelope in a separate envelope, addressed to the U.S. Embassy or nearest Consulate General, with the words “VOTING MATERIAL ENCLOSED” printed on the front of the envelope.

2. Deliver your FWAB to the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate General in person (Brasilia, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre or Recife)
3. Mail via an international courier service like DHL or FedEx.
Note that if your state ballot does show up on time, you can mail that in as well and your FWAB will be discarded, so there is no harm in doing this.
Don't let these voter suppression efforts succeed!
