A Meeting Not to Miss!

HEY, Democrats Abroad Caribbean Islands people!

Do you love trees, the environment and lower food prices? You’re invited to a virtual meeting on Wednesday, July 2nd.

Our guest speaker will be Mary McLaughlin of the Trees That Feed Foundation, whose mission is planting fruit trees to feed people, create jobs, and benefit the environment — a mission now more important than ever in the Caribbean Islands in the face of accelerating climate change and skyrocketing food prices.

Born and educated in Jamaica, Mary has had a varied career as a geologist, a teacher, and an artist. After closing her business, McLaughlin Glazeware, Mary wanted to do something to help the environment.

Trees That Feed Foundation (https://treesthatfeed.org) has now planted nearly 400,000 food-bearing trees, notably the flagship breadfruit, in 23 countries in Central America, Africa, and the Caribbean islands including Jamaica, Haiti, The Bahamas and Guadeloupe. Requests from other countries are welcomed.

Trees That Feed also runs supporting programs including school feeding, entrepreneurship, and education. Learn more at Mary’s talk, with an opportunity for your questions after.

After our speaker, we'll have a short update on DA Caribbean Islands happenings, resistance activities, and volunteer opportunities.
