Important Last-minute Voting Info

  • If you haven't returned your ballot yet, there are still a few days until Nov. 5 to email, fax or courier your ballot (according to your state's ballot return options).

  • If you courier a ballot, we suggest you leave the envelopes unsealed and ask DHL/FedEx to look at materials prior to final packaging and placement in the DHL/FedEx outer envelope. They can then stamp the package as having been inspected. After that, you can seal the envelopes. Why? We've heard of very few isolated incidents of customs opening envelopes.

  • The DHL on Av. Colon in Merida has a special price of 544 pesos (rather than the usual 900 pesos) to courier an envelope to the U.S.

  • If you have the option to fax, you can use a free fax app like FaxZero.com, or in Merida Centro, use the fax machine at Kitas Internet (Calle 61 #502 y 64 y 62). Don't use the FVAP service for faxing; the deadline has passed for them to forward ballots by Nov. 5.

If you're in Merida, Hennessy's Irish Pub will be showing election coverage on Nov. 5.

We're excited about electing Democrats up and down the ballot. Keep in mind, though, that many close elections may not be decided on the evening of Nov. 5. That's totally normal. Legally, some states can't start processing and counting mail-in ballots until Nov. 5, so it takes time. It's not easy, but let's all try to stay calm while ballots are being counted.

We thank everyone who has voted or is making the final push to get their ballot in.

Sincerely,
Democrats Abroad Yucatan
