Public Speaking with Confidence: A Workshop for Beginners
**WE ARE POSTPONING THIS EVENT. WE WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN WE HAVE A NEW DATE!!**
Hosted by Democrats Abroad Hamburg
Led by: Elaine Thomas – Performer, Vocal Coach & Business English Trainer
Do you feel nervous speaking in front of others? Want to build your confidence for presentations, meetings, or even casual conversations in group settings? Join this dynamic workshop designed especially for members of Democrats Abroad who want to gain essential public speaking skills in a supportive and practical environment.
Drawing on years of experience in theater, vocal performance, and professional business training, your instructor will guide you through techniques used by performers and speakers alike:
-
Voice control and breathing for calm delivery
-
Body language and presence
-
Structuring your message clearly and persuasively
-
Overcoming stage fright and speaking anxiety
We’ll also explore how to stay composed and assertive in the face of difficult or even aggressive audiences—including how to recognize and respond to racist or discriminatory remarks with dignity and confidence.
The session is interactive, with no pressure to perform solo unless you're ready. You’ll get tips, practice time, and feedback in a safe and empowering space.
Whether you’re preparing to speak at an event, in a political discussion, or in everyday life, this workshop will help you find your voice and use it effectively.
No prior experience needed – just a willingness to learn and participate!
