Fundraiser with special guest, Greta Neubauer, minority leader of the WI State Assembly

Democrats Abroad Sweden is thrilled to announce that Greta Neubauer, the minority leader of the Wisconsin State Assembly, will join us virtually on Wednesday, March 20th from 6:30-8 pm (Sweden) for an important conversation about how we stop Trump and his fellow MAGA Republicans in 2024. Neubauer has been on the frontlines of saving democracy in the key battleground state of Wisconsin.

On February 19th, Democratic Governor Tony Evers signed new legislative district maps into law, which replaced what many considered the most gerrymandered maps in the country. This was only possible because Democrats in the Wisconsin State Assembly held off a Republican supermajority by two seats. Neubauer was key to this victory.

Neubauer will share her experiences in Wisconsin and talk strategy in 2024 with us. She will be joined by our very own Alex Lange, former Chair of DAS, who will talk in person about why 2024 is such a pivotal election, one that will shape the trajectory of the world for decades to come.

This is a fundraising event to support our get out the vote (GOTV) efforts, and there are several levels on which you can support us. See the ticketing information below.

This event will be hosted in the home of a local DAS member with drinks and snacks. After signing up, you will be notified about the event’s location in Stockholm-Södermalm and receive a link to join us online. If you are joining remotely from outside Sweden, remember that Sweden has not yet switched to daylight savings time. So, the event time is 1:30pm EST (in D.C.) and 12:30pm CST (in Wisconsin).

Your continued support will help us build our organization locally - throughout Sweden - so that we achieve high voter turnout abroad and assure that Democrats win in the next election!

Bios:

Greta Neubauer was born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin. She grew up around politics and worked as an organizer with young people on the issue of climate change after graduating from college. She was elected to represent the 66th Assembly District in 2018 and was unanimously elected by her colleagues to serve as Minority Leader in January of 2022. She also leads the Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee, which successfully prevented a Republican supermajority in the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2022, maintaining Governor Evers' veto power despite heavily gerrymandered districts.

Alexander Lange is a former Chair of Democrats Abroad Sweden and an expert on U.S. political campaigns and elections who has frequently provided analysis on U.S. politics for Swedish media, including SVT, TV4, Sveriges Radio, Aftonbladet, and Expressen. Alex has a background in Democratic political campaigns, including the 2012 campaign to re-elect former President Barack Obama. He holds an undergraduate degree in Politics and Business & Management from the University of Glasgow, and a Master’s in Social Sciences (focus Political Theory) from the University of Chicago. He moved to Sweden from Chicago in 2015 and today works for a Sweden-based human rights organization.
