Defend Democracy!

In this year's elections in the United States, democracy itself is on the ballot. The foundational notion of majority rule, and all of the rights and freedoms that flow from it, is being challenged as never before in our lifetimes. The most notorious embodiment of the anti-democratic mindset is Project 2025 -- a blueprint for an authoritarian America.

The Hamburg and Northern Germany chapter invites its members, and all others who believe that it's a cause worth fighting for, to Defend Democracy at the Rathausmarkt in Hamburg on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024. As Americans, we take responsibility for the future of our nation, and we welcome everyone who would step up for the universal values of democracy.

September 17th to 23rd is Constitution Week in the United States, when we commemorate the ideals set forth at the founding of a nation hundreds of years ago. On September 22nd, we will express our renewed commitment to those principles. Throughout our history, we have fallen short of the ideals of democracy, many times and in many ways. But we must always strive to do better, not abandon our hopes to authoritarianism and repression.

We're not going back.
