As American taxpayers living in Canada, it seems like we have a lot to contend with: not only do we need to file our taxes with both countries, but we also don't always get the same tax advantages that Americans living in the U.S. or Canadians enjoy.
But there may be some good news on the horizon! Kevin Beesley, of Kevin Beesley US Tax Services, Inc. (Vancouver, BC) will outline for us the recent court case of Bruyea v. United States. In this important matter, now under appeal, there may be some relief coming from net investment income tax, making tax season a bit less painful.
(Please be advised that the presenter cannot offer individual advice without a deeper personal consultation.)
Kevin Beesley is a U.S. CPA with a Master's in U.S. tax. He founded his Vancouver-based firm in 2016 after working for Stephen Katz (a well known US tax lawyer) for 5 years. Before he became a cross-border tax accountant, he toured the world in a punk rock band (The Smugglers), and was a part owner of a Canadian record label (Mint Records).
Kevin's firm specializes exclusively in providing tax services for U.S. citizens resident in Canada who need U.S. and Canadian tax services.
