You’re invited to Resistance Reading Room: Beyond the page - our new series that uses short media (podcasts, videos, or articles) as a springboard for clear, constructive conversation.
· A welcoming space to make sense of big ideas together: not a lecture and not a debate.
· Read, listen, or watch first: engage with the article, podcast, or video on your own, then join our Zoom discussion.
· The host introduces short “issue spotlights” and a question for each theme.
This session: Vox
Vox is a liberal website which was founded 11 years ago by Ezra Klein, Melissa Bell, and Matthew Yglesias. A specialty of Vox is explanatory journalism, where the author adds additional context to an article.
We’ll discuss the article “How Conservatives Help Their Young Thinkers — And Why Liberals Don’t” by Zack Beauchamps from August 2025. Beauchamps is senior correspondent at Vox with a focus on challenges to democracy, including his newsletter On The Right. In the article, he discusses why American conservatives have a strong pipeline for young talent and liberals do not.
