80th anniversary of Victory in Europe - Ceremony in Castres

A call to any veterans or WW2 buffs: Castres will hold a major ceremony honoring the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe--May 8th--the day marking the end of WW2 in Europe.
The ceremony begins at 11am at the Monument au Mort. It lasts about an hour.

As Castres is home to an important French parachute regiment and there is a strong military presence at these ceremonies.

We are looking for some American to act as Stars & Stripes Flag bearer and two or three volunteers to lay the wreath on behalf of Democrats Abroad Toulouse.

You are invited to attend and bear witness--especially important in this moment when democracy is under threat in America.

Castres itself is well worth visiting. The honor guard parade begins at the Goya Museum of Spanish art, which will be open that day. We could organize a Dems Abroad group lunch at a local restaurant after the ceremony if there is interest.
