La Vase des Bacchanales is a short walk from Tram 92 (stop Eglise Saint Servais) or Bus 59 (stop Herman).
I'll be leading this walk (DAB member Linda Danielson). We'll spend a couple of hours exploring some of the prettiest corners of Schaerbeek—mostly Art Nouveau, with a few other architectural styles mixed in. I first discovered this route through a fundraising walk for a Brussels non-profit that supports people experiencing homelessness, and I've been wanting to share it ever since.
We will start the walk on Avenue Louis Bertrand at the ‘Vase des Bacchanales’, which a friend of mine calls the ‘Orgy Urn’. When you see it, you’ll understand why! From there we will walk up towards the Saint Servais church and then start our tour of the houses built between 1899 and 1912. The walk will be about 5 km taking us through Place Colignon to Rue Demolder full of beautiful houses. It should take about 2 hours including stops to look at the different houses.
We’ll end the walk back at the vase, and anyone who’d like can join for a light lunch afterwards at café Winok.
Hope to see you there!
