Resistance Reading Room Book Club!

We are excited to invite you to the inaugural session of the Resistance Reading Room Book Club! As with our prior Resistance Reading Room podcast and article review events, this is a welcoming space to make sense of big ideas together: not a lecture and not a debate.

The frequency of the book club events will be finalized shortly but we envision reading six books a year, alternating between in person and web-based events. Books will be chosen by participating members who will take turns facilitating the discussion. In alternate months, we will discuss assigned articles and podcasts.

Our first book club event will take place on Zoom on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 7-9 pm. The selection is “Autocracy, Inc. – The Dictators Who Want to Run the World” by Anne Applebaum, Pulitzer Prize winner and staff writer at The Atlantic.

The book, published in July 2024, is a scant 224 pages. It is available on Kindle and Audible if you can’t find a hard copy. The audiobook is read by the author and runs just over 3 hours when you listen at 1.5x.

In order to ensure a productive conversation, attendees are expected to have completed the book.

Note:  A Zoom link will be distributed to all attendees at least 3 hours before the event begins.
