WHAT WE STAND FOR
The recognition of U.S citizens living outside our country as a constituency group with unique and pressing concerns is inadequate. Democrats Abroad fights for a fair representation of the most long standing issues.
Taxation Issues
The Democrats Abroad Taxation Task Force (TTF) consists of volunteers researching U.S. tax policy as it affects Americans living outside the U.S. and considering, developing, and executing initiatives aimed at enacting reforms that resolve adverse impacts.
Voting Rights
Our State Teams work to monitor state and federal level voting rights legislation, and advocate to increase ballot access for all Americans - abroad and at home.
Medicare Portability
Once citizens begin receiving the Social Security they earned throughout their work lives, their benefit is automatically reduced for the cost of their Medicare. But US Citizens residing outside the country are unable to use the Medicare they paid for, and continue to pay for, without often-costly travel back to the United States.
Equal Rights Amendment
The Equal Rights Amendment Task Force works to promote the addition of equal rights in the US Constitution and all state constitutions. This includes research, advocacy, education and communication.
Climate Emergency
Democrats Abroad advocates for urgent action to address the existential crisis of climate change. Americans living overseas bear direct witness and suffer the consequences of the global climate emergency; from the melting Arctic ice caps to the sinking islands of the Pacific to the pervasive and increasing fires and floods devastating the earth.
Vaccination Access
The Democrats Abroad Vaccination Task Force is dedicated to working to ensure that FDA-authorized vaccines are available to all Americans - regardless of if they are in Texas, Thailand, Tennessee, or Tanzania.
Reparations
The Democrats Abroad Global Reparations Task Force is dedicated to tackling economic, racial, and political injustice head on. Join us as we fight to keep politicians accountable to their promises to address racial disparities through reparations. We build global momentum to support federal, state, and local reparative justice efforts.
