About our speakers:
Ambassador Earl A. Wayne served as a US diplomat from 1975 to 2015, including as the U.S. Ambassador to Argentina (2006-2009), Deputy U.S. Ambassador in Kabul, Afghanistan (2009-2011), and the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico (2011- 15). He was the Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs (EB) under three Secretaries of State (2000-2006).
Wayne has an MPA from Harvard University’s JFK School of Government, MAs from Princeton University and Stanford University, and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
Ambassador Roberta S. Jacobson is a Senior Advisor at the Albright Stonebridge Group (ASG), where she draws on more than thirty years of distinguished diplomatic experience to advise clients of the firm’s Americas practice. Until May 2018, she served as U.S. ambassador to Mexico, where she oversaw the U.S.-Mexico bilateral relationship and managed a broad array of issues, including trade and investment, security and immigration, the environment, and human rights.
Her senior-level U.S. government experience also included serving as Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Canada, Mexico and NAFTA, Director of the State Department’s Office of Mexican Affairs, and Deputy Chief of Mission in the U.S. Embassy in Peru. Ambassador Jacobson holds a M.A. in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and a B.A. from Brown University. She is fluent in Spanish.
Ambassador Bruce Heyman was named by President Obama as U.S. ambassador to Canada in 2014 and served in this role until 2017. He is the author of “The Art of Diplomacy: Strengthening the Canada-U.S. Relationship in Times of Uncertainty.” He is a 33 year veteran of Goldman Sachs, where he served as a regional managing director of the Midwest private wealth management group, which covers 13 states and half of Canada, from 1999 until 2013. He also leads the Ambassadors for Biden program, working with former U.S. Ambassadors to get out the vote among Americans abroad.
