3rd 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary Debate Watch & ERA Postcard Writing

Watch the Third 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary Debate with Democrats Abroad Philippines on Friday September 13, 2019 from 8-11am at Handlebar, 31 Polaris Street (in Burgos area), Bel-Air Village, Makati City. No fee to attend (self-paid à la carte menu) and no need to RSVP. #DemDebate #PartyWithTheDems
We'll also be writing postcards to help Virginia (VA) ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). "Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex." #EqualityForAll #ERA-Now
Writing postcards is really easy and one of our members who is going to the United States on Sunday has offered to mail our postcards from there to save on mailing costs. Our Chair Lisa's doing 5, Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Coordinator Brian 2, a member 10, and I'll do at least 5 myself. So please come.
All positions in the VA house and senate are up for election in November 2019. Earlier this year, ERA passed the VA Senate but failed in the VA House by a vote of 50 to 50. Democrats Abroad is partnering with the VAratifyERA organization to elect pro-ERA candidates. Although they are doing it as a non-partisan activity, all of the pro-ERA candidates are Democrats.
We can help by writing postcards to 2,500 voters living in Virginia in Kirk Cox’s district. He’s the house chair that has blocked the ERA bill for the last several years so it would be a pleasure for us to help kick him out.
Postcards need to reach Virginia by October 15, 2019--the registration deadline--but at least before the November 2019 election. If you won't be joining us to write postcards at Debate #3 Watch this Friday, you can send postcards on your own using the Philippine Post Office's Registered Mail service, which only costs about PhP200. It can take some three weeks to arrive in the United States so mailing by Friday September 27, 2019 would be good or mail as soon as possible.
Text for the postcard is simply:
Democrat Sheila Bynum-Coleman supports equality and Republican Kirk Cox does NOT.
Your vote matters!
- [first name]
American living in [country name]
If you are willing to write and send some, let us know how many by emailing da-ph@democratsabroad.org and we’ll give you the addresses. Please only take as many as you are committed to send.
Let’s flip the House in Virginia with pro-ERA candidates. By doing so, we could have the Equal Rights Amendment ratified by Valentine’s Day 2020! "Roses are red, violets are blue, 85% of countries have gender equality, the US should too!"
Thanks for everyone’s help.
