On February 27, a group of DA Barcelona members got together to discuss a major challenge we all face: how to get the news you need, without being overwhelmed by the onslaught.
Session attendees were given a little bit of homework when they signed up: everyone was asked to think about and come ready to share with others the following three things: name of one print publication they trust and rely on; name of one audio/video news source they trust and rely on; name of one issue or institution they are actively tracking and working to support. We met at ESERP Business School, which graciously provided us with their beautiful auditorium. Session moderators Annie Graul and Doris Stanger welcomed attendees and described the objectives and guidelines, and then we broke into two working groups. Each attendee was given two minutes without interruption to share their three things; after going around the circle once, everyone had a second two minutes of uninterrupted time to continue arguing in favor of their own sources or to provide feedback on others' recommendations. Below is a lightly curated list of the many excellent recommendations, including links.
Rather than regarding the following as a "to-do list" of dozens of new sources you need to follow, consider it a buffet from which you can select a few morsels that seem the most nutritious and appealing. The idea is to focus, be informed, and not become overwhelmed. Good luck!
