Art Schankler helped organize the first Democrats Abroad country committee in the Czech Republic in 2011 and served as its first Chair. He was elected International Treasurer in 2013 and named International Vice Chair in July 2016.
Art currently works in Serbia on the preparation of infrastructure projects in the Western Balkans region. His previous experience includes working in refugee camps in Southeast Asia and East Africa, working at an investment bank in New York providing financing for state and local governments, as well as eight years at a development bank serving Eastern Europe. In addition, he has served as a lecturer in American Government and Politics at a university in Prague.
He is a lifelong Democrat, from stuffing envelopes for John Kennedy in 1960, working for the Mondale-Ferraro campaign in 1984, to going door-to-door in his hometown of Akron, OH for President Obama in 2008. He is a graduate of Princeton University in East Asian Studies and has an MBA from Columbia Business School.
