Coronavirus Aid for Americans Abroad

Many members have reached out asking about the CARES Act impact for Americans living abroad. Fortunately the Democrats Abroad Taxation Task Force has prepared a report to share. Congress has passed the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act . Visit for more information

When is the next Chapter event?

Chapter events can be found on this page and will be posted once arranged. The Chapter goal is to host at least two events a year. They will include social, educational and political events to engage members. If you would like to see a specific Chapter event, please reach out to the Chapter Chair.



How do I vote from Canada?

Overseas Americans have had the right to vote in Federal elections since 1975. Each state has different procedures and deadlines so note that information distribution may be difficult, and mail delivery times can be problematic.

Chapter AGM

On April 30, 2020, the Chapter held its AGM.  The slate of officers nominated were elected. (see Chapter Leadership for their bios. The Chapter officers will hold these positions until March of 2021, when Democrats Abroad requires a new election.  You are encouraged to reach out to any officer if you have an interest in a position currently held and you wish to become involved in the next election.

Democrats Abroad K-W has a significant membership base that includes Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Elmira, Elora and surrounding towns. The Chapter’s mission is to ensure its members are informed about voting, Chapter and country events, and to foster opportunities to volunteer and engage with the Chapter directly and with Democrats Abroad Canada (  The Chapter offers various activities for its members including social gatherings, educational seminars and political events.
