2023 DA FRANCE LGBTQ+ CAUCUS ELECTION CANDIDATES
The nominations and call for candidates period for the 2023 DA France LGBTQ+ Caucus Elections has now closed. Please find below statements for the candidates standing for election for the two officer positions up for election.
The DA France LGBTQ+ Caucus Election will take place via Zoom on Saturday March 11 at 11AM -RSVP here to get the Zoom link.
All members of the DA France LGBTQ+ Caucus will receive an email containing a link to the ballot, which may be used for early voting. Those who attend the Election and Meeting will have the chance to hear from the candidates before voting.
New members are welcome to join and vote — please do so by March 10. You must be a U.S. citizen living overseas and at least 18 years old at the time of the next federal election to join Democrats Abroad, and be living in France to vote in this election (join here: https://www.democratsabroad.org/join), and also be a LGBTQ+ member of the Global LGBTQ+ Caucus (join here: https://www.democratsabroad.org/LGBTQ).

CHAIR CANDIDATE
Fred Hoffman
I have been serving as the Interim Co-Chair of the Democrats Abroad France LGBTQ+ Caucus since 2019 when I was asked to replace the Chair who resigned. I am now running for the position of Chair and would be honored to receive your vote so that I can continue to serve and work for LGBTQ+ rights and issues that concern us all. I will strive to mobilize the Caucus during my term, especially with many important elections taking place during the next 2 years. I will work to get to get out the vote so that Democrats get elected so that we can protect not only LGBTQ+ rights, but the rights and laws that protect all Americans.
Living in France since 1989, I have been a member of Democrats Abroad France for many of those years, becoming more active during Hillary Clinton's first campaign in 2008.
In recent years, I have organized and co-organized several events for the LGBTQ+ Caucus.
I am currently one of the spokespeople for DAF. I was honored to be one of the French- speaking DAF spokespersons during then-candidate Joe Biden's campaign and throughout his election and inauguration.
SECRETARY CANDIDATE
Laura Pascal
I have been serving in the DA France LGBTQ+ Caucus Steering Committee since Oct. 2022. Already involved in the secretary duties of taking minutes for our meetings and organizing events, I am now running to serve as the Secretary for DA France LGBTQ+ Caucus. My goal in serving as your secretary is to provide support to the Chair and to continue organizing events to bring together our LGBTQ+ community. We are already working to create space for social events in person and virtual to grow our numbers and to get our members registered to vote to protect our LGBTQ+ rights back in the US, a particular importance to me as a Florida voter.
I moved to Paris in Sep. 2020 to be with my wife, a French native. Laws recently passed in Congress like the Respect for Marriage Act give me hope that my marriage will continue to be recognized and protected in the US. As a member and Secretary of the DA LGBT+ Caucus, we are among many in the Democratic Party ensuring our LGBTQ+ rights are maintained and protected against injustices. I hope to serve and work with you for our rainbow future ;)
