The Democrats Abroad Canada Black Caucus invites all DA Canada members to join us in celebrating Emancipation Day on August 1, 2023. The1833 Slavery Abolition Act came into effect in 1834 in the British Empire, including Canada.  While slavery was officially ended, people of African heritage, the diaspora and indigenous nations continue to face an ongoing struggle for freedom, equity, and justice.  Our voice is powerful when we stand together and cast our vote that was so strongly fought for.
