    Climate Change March in Bern

Democrats in Switzerland: March for the climate on Saturday Sept. 28 in Bern! For the Global Climate Strike to be held in cities around the world on Sept. 20, Swiss organizers have instead focused on a single national Climate Change March and Demonstration in Bern on the 28th. Inspiration from the global webpage: "This September, millions of us will walk out of our workplaces and homes to join young climate strikers on the streets and demand an end to the age of fossil fuels. Our house is on fire — let’s act like it. We demand climate justice for everyone." (http://globalclimatestrike.net/#faq )

The Demcratic Party is committed to fighting climate change, even if the best methods are still in dispute. But Democrats in Switzerland can publicly display their concern in this climate march. Add your voice behind the DACH banner!

    DACH meet-up time: 1:15pm
DACH meet-up point: Tibits Restaurant at the Hauptbahnhof, Bern. Our group will walk to join the main crowd about 1:30pm.

The national march meetup point is the Parkplatz Schützenmatt, next to the main train station, at 1:30pm. To begin marching at 2pm, ending with a major demonstration at the Bundesplatz in front of Federal Parliament Building.

Transport to Bern: The SBB/CFF will run extra trains to Bern on the date, from all directions, for the expected large crowds. Many cheap Bern tickets available for the date, but buy early! (www.sbb.ch or www.cff.ch)

What to wear: Democrats Abroad or VoteFromAbroad T-shirt. If none then a blue shirt.
What to bring: Posters! Chapters may organize poster-making events; indicate in your RSVP if interested.

RSVP: Recommended but not required, to events@democrats.ch

DACH Geneva Book Group - October

Our October book is The End of the Myth by Greg Grandin. Come join us - whether or not you read the book!

Additional information about this (and future) event(s) can be found here.

The AIWC is on the 4th floor of 11 rte. de Chêne.  That's near all the CEVA construction close to the Eaux-Vives railway station. There isn't any easy parking (you can take your luck on the street), but the #12 tram is convenient (walk downhill from stop Amandolier or uphill from stop Roches).  If using a parking garage use Villerouge, which is about a 10 minute walk (don't use the Coop 2000 -- it gets locked early and you might have to wait until Wednesday to retrieve your car).  Nominal start time is 18:30; if you arrive after 19:00 you'll need the door code to get in.

NOTE: The #12 tram is running again after having a bus substitute this summer for construction work.  And starting in January 2020 the Leman Express will be running to the Gare des Eaux-Vives.

Not required, but appreciated is if you can bring some food and/or drink to share and Fr. 5.- to help with the room rent.
