2020 Global Presidential Primary in Copenhagen

Attention Americans living Denmark: Your vote counts! And did you know you can vote in person? Democrats Abroad is considered an official state party within the Democratic Party, and we will be holding our own Global Presidential Primary elections in March 2020. We will provide a voting center on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Hotel Guldsmeden Babette in Copenhagen (Bredgade 78 1260 Copenhagen K). Voting will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Democrats Abroad will send 21 delegates from around the globe who will represent our party in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from July 13–16, 2020 at the Democratic National Convention. The presidential candidate for November 2020 will be selected there. Don’t miss the opportunity to let your vote count in what might be the most important election of your lifetime!

Come vote! Please invite and share this with your American friends and colleagues.

Some Frequently Asked Questions:
***Who is eligible to participate?***
Democrats Abroad has just a few requirements for voting in the primary:
- Be abroad and be a U.S. citizen
- Be a member of Democrats Abroad
- Be 18 years old as of November 3, 2020
- Have not voted, or plan to vote, in any other 2020 state presidential primary.

***What if I’m not a member of Democrats Abroad?***
You can sign up any time between now and up to and including the day of the primary in order to vote in the Global Presidential Primary. Democrats Abroad allows same-day registration for voters participating in the Global Presidential Primary. Voters may register in-person or by signing up at https://www.democratsabroad.org/join.

** I can’t attend the event but want to vote. What can I do? **
If you can’t join us in person, as long as you’re a member of Democrats Abroad, you can also vote remotely. Look for your primary ballot in your inbox on February 18, 2020.

*** Can I vote in the Global Presidential Primary and in my home state’s primary? ***
You can only vote once in the presidential primary. That means that if you vote in the Global Primary you can still vote in your home state down-ballot primary races (such as for your congressperson). Just skip the presidential question on your home state’s ballot.

***I've already requested received my overseas absentee ballots for this year from my home state. Why should I participate in the Democrats Abroad Global Presidential Primary instead of voting in my home state’s presidential primary?***
While thousands and thousands of people will participate in the Global Presidential Primary this year, millions will vote in your home state. That means that, as an individual, your primary vote with Democrats Abroad is more powerful than if you were to vote in, say, California — in fact, 4 times more powerful!

In addition, Dems Abroad votes earlier than a lot of other states (including Florida, Illinois, Ohio, NewYork, and Pennsylvania), meaning that you have an earlier chance in shaping the outcome of the primary process by voting with us.

*** Who will win the Global Presidential Primary? ***
That’s up to you to decide! We’ll be announcing the results of our primary on March 23, 2020, so stay tuned!
