What to bring: Celebratory food and drink; enthusiasm for the next four years.

Here’s why you don’t want to miss this event:

  • When you Zoom in you, will join other DANZ members to celebrate the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris!
  • We may be riding high because the inauguration and our hope for the future (thanks, young people!) but our democratic duty isn’t quite over. Next on the agenda is to vote out the full DANZ executive committee. That’s right. All the terms are up and it’s time for a new administration. Advance nominations closed on 19 December 2020 but nominations will be accepted from the floor. And yes, you can volunteer yourself to be nominated! Please scroll down for descriptions of the executive committee roles.
  • Next, we’ll be treated to a talk from leading US historian Jennifer Frost. Jennifer, who in addition to being a DANZ member, is a US historian at the University of Auckland who specializes in 20th-century politics, culture, and social movements. Jennifer will add insight to the recent and other elections as she discusses her upcoming book, Let Us Vote: Youth Voting Rights and the 26th Amendment.

This is super important!!!!

If you are not able to attend the AGM, please (PLEASE!) ask another DANZ member to vote on your behalf and complete a proxy form. The form is available here. Need help finding a voting member who will attend the meeting? No sweat. Just email [email protected] and request a proxy voter. We’ll find you one to ask.
