Why do we struggle with our progressive agenda when the core of popular democracy backs us with majority positions on issues ranging from expanding Medicare, providing meaningful student debt relief, initiating a serious discussion on reparative justice, taking transformational steps to fight climate change, protecting employee rights to organize, ensuring the freedom to vote, and much more? Many of us look to campaign finance reform as the key. What would happen if more of our elected officials spent less time soliciting funding from donors and more time representing us?
