DACR at Pride Parade
On June 25th, Movimiento Diversidad organized a massive Pride Parade in downtown San José. Costa Rican government officials, corporations, and a handful of embassies joined in support of the LGBT community through Avenida Segunda and Paseo Colón. A record-breaking 80,000 people marched last Sunday.
Democrats Abroad Costa Rica was present at the event. DACR proudly displayed a rainbow colored Classic VW Bus. Hundreds of people took pictures of the bus and were given Resistance Summer postcards.
If you are interested in seeing pictures of the parade, please visit the following link: https://www.facebook.com/pg/DemocratsAbroadCR/photos/?tab=album&album_id=839899462831565
We plan to participate next year. Stay tuned!
Democrats Abroad @ Marcha de la Diversidad
JUNE 25TH Democrats Abroad will be joining forces with Movimiento Diversidad (Pride Costa Rica). It is Democrats Abroad Costa Rica’s first action of Summer Resistance. We will be having a float in the Pride March this Sunday, June 25th in San José. Please join us in showing our support for the LGBTQ community in Costa Rica.
A Classic VW bus will be painted in rainbow colors, and we will march alongside with banners.
We will meet at noon at Parque Benemeritos de la Patria (Avenida Segunda, Calle 38).
If it is possible, please make a sign to carry.
If by any circumstance you cannot find Democrats Abroad at Parque Benemeritos de la Patria, go to Paseo Colón and look for Steve’s bright red VW bus (our float). If you still can’t find the VW bus, please contact Kathy 8572-2984.

March Monthly Meeting - Presentation Report Back From Honduras
March 25th, 2017
STORIES FROM HONDURAS
Carol Marujo and Martha Rollins will present a program about Honduras. A coup d'etat in June 2009 removed the democratically-elected president Mel Zelaya from office. Seven years later a human rights delegation visited Honduras to learn about the situation in the country today. Carol and Martha were part of that delegation that traveled to many parts of the country, met with many civil society leaders; the family of the murdered indigenous/environmental rights leader, Berta Cáceres; and the US ambassador to Honduras. This will be a very compelling presentation, don't miss it.
