The call begins at 1:30 pm DC time on August 28th, 2018.

Note: this is an online event, so you will need an internet connection in order to attend.

About our speaker:
Mary Barzee Flores is a Florida native, former federal Public Defender and served from 2003-2011 as a Judge on Florida’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court. President Obama nominated her to the U.S District Court for the Southern District of Florida in 2015, but Senator Marco Rubio blocked the nomination. Mary decided to run because she wants to fight “… to improve the lives of ALL Americans.” Mary is a progressive who believes in universal, affordable health care, and for women “… to have the right to make their own decisions regarding their families and their bodies– period.” She will work to end Dreamers’ uncertainty and create a path to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented workers who live and work across the country. On the environment, Mary points out that Florida is “ground zero” in the battle to control climate change and proposes that the US rejoin the Paris Climate Accord and show leadership to innovate for a sustainable future.

Mary is challenging a right-wing Republican incumbent in a district Trump won by just two percent. Her opponent voted last year to repeal the Affordable Care Act, has an “A” rating from the NRA and supported the 2017 Republican tax cuts, so Democrats have high hopes Flores will flip this seat in November! She needs your support, and we need her in Congress, so we look forward to your participating in the call!

Looking forward to seeing you online!
