Democrats Abroad Montpellier Chapter Leadership Elections

Run for something!

It’s that time again. Every two years you have the chance to nominate others, declare yourself a candidate, and we all have a chance to vote for the incoming leadership team.

The deadline for submitting candidacies is February 5. Voting will take place via an electronic ballot which will be sent by email to members on February 21. The deadline for submitting your ballot is March 7 at 3 PM.

Democrats Abroad France is a 100% volunteer-run organization, and we elect our leaders every two years for a two-year term. We organize social and political activities that promote our Democratic ideals and values, and encourage the American community to exercise their right to vote.

These are the positions that are open for election:

Chair/Co-Chair:

The Chapter will elect two Co-Chairs, ideally one female and one male. The Chair(s) set the agendas and lead the meetings of the Chapter. They plan and execute the Chapter’s activities, working together with their team. They participate as a voting member of DA France’s National Executive Committee, and are responsible for monthly Chapter reports.

Vice Chair:

The Vice Chair assists the Chair, and the duties of the Chair may be shared with the Vice Chair.

Secretary:

The Secretary maintains the archives of the Chapter and is in charge of the membership database.

GOTV Coordinator:

The Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Coordinator is responsible for organizing the local voter registration activities. Responsibilities associated with this position will kick into gear at the end of 2023 so if someone takes this on, they will have plenty of time to do the necessary training.

Candidates must be members of Democrats Abroad France, US citizens 18 years or older, living in the Montpellier region and able to serve a full term of two years. Every eligible member with interest, ability, conviction and ideas is encouraged to run. Previous organizing experience is welcome but not necessary.

To run for election: You may nominate yourself by declaring your candidacy, or you may be nominated by someone else. You may also nominate another person for a position. To declare your candidacy or make a nomination, please email the Elections Board at [email protected]. Candidates must submit a candidate’s statement (no more than 200 words). If you are nominating another person, please put that person on copy of your email.

For more information, please contact the Elections Board at [email protected] Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions.

We hope you will step up to leadership and run for one of these positions!

Democratically Yours,

The Elections Board of the Montpellier Chapter
