Dems Abroad Marches For Our Lives

Please join with Democrats Abroad as we rise and organize this Saturday in marches around the world. And then help us vote out the politicians who are holding America back from common sense gun laws.

Attend one of our 40-plus events.

On March 24th we will stand up in solidarity with American youth. We will speak out for common sense gun laws, demand that Congress protect our citizens, and enact gun legislation to end violence and mass shootings in America's schools today.

Join the Virtual March For Our Lives.

If you can’t join a rally in person, we hope you’ll join online, and help us create a giant collage of Americans all over the world, standing with Parkland, with survivors, and with families.

The students of Stoneman Douglas, and the thousands of students who have spoken up before and since, have proven that this generation can and will shape our country’s future, starting now. We believe in them, and we hope you’ll join us in our support.

Looking for other ways to get involved?

VOTE. And make sure others vote, too.

We must keep the momentum going by ensuring that Americans abroad vote this year. Even if you voted in 2016 or 2017, you still need to request your ballot for 2018, and every calendar year that you want to vote in.

Don’t be disenfranchised! Read more about requesting your ballot.

Join in and help us register voters. Details here.

Spread the word before, during, and after March For Our Lives events.

You can find social media posts here, or come up with your own using the hashtags #MarchForOurLives and #DAResists.

Join our Youth Caucus.

The Youth Caucus provides a platform for young Democrats abroad - those who are and those who may be interested in becoming politically active - to engage in and lead on issues and campaigns important to them. We know that young voters can be a powerful force, but they need to VOTE for that to be true. Interested in helping us engage? Sign up here.

“Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [VOTING STATE/ZIP]. I’m calling today to ask Senator [NAME] to take action to reduce the epidemic of gun violence in the United States. This is not a states rights or second amendment issue. This is a safety issue that has plagued our nation for far too long and must be addressed urgently.

Specifically, I ask that the Senator move to:

- Close the loophole that lets people buy guns at shows and through private sellers without background checks
- Institute universal background checks for ammo and gun buyers
- Vote in favor of S.2095, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2017
- Remove the Dickey Rider from the federal budget and finally allow the CDC to research gun violence prevention
- Support S. 1916, the Automatic Gunfire Prevention Act, to ban bump stocks

I’m also incredibly disturbed that H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act passed the House, and it’s essential that the Senate stop it from becoming law. I’d like to see the Senator commit immediately to opposing this legislation, S. 446. It’s as important as ever not to weaken gun safety standards, and prevent firearms from falling into dangerous hands. This is why every major law enforcement agency has opposed this bill.

[Consider pointing out the differences you've experienced and seen as an American overseas, your support of March For Our Lives, or:] As an American voter living abroad, I know that it doesn’t have to be this way. The US must be a positive example to the world, not the opposite. We cannot afford to wait any longer to protect innocent lives from gun massacres. Thank you.”

Find your Representative here.
“Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from [VOTING STATE/ZIP] calling from [LOCATION]. I’m calling today to ask Representative [NAME] to take action to reduce the epidemic of gun violence in the United States. This is not a states rights or second amendment issue. This is a safety issue that has plagued our nation for far too long and must be addressed urgently.

Specifically, I ask that the Representative move to:

- Vocally support closing the loophole that lets people buy guns at shows and through private sellers without background checks and institute universal background checks for ammo and gun buyers. Despite these being popular among all Americans, Congress has yet to act.
- Remove the Dickey Rider from the federal budget and finally allow the CDC to research gun violence prevention
- Vote NO on the SHARE act, which would make silencers more accessible and lead to more deaths in mass shootings and legalize armor piercing bullets. This vote has been repeatedly shelved because there simply hasn't been enough time between shootings for a controversial bill like this to be brought to the floor. It must be voted down or shelved permanently.

The US must be a positive example to the world, not the opposite. We cannot afford to wait any longer to protect innocent lives from gun massacres. Thank you.”
