Nomination Process: You can self-nominate or nominate someone else, with their permission. Nomination forms must be submitted. Your nomination form includes a short candidate statement that needs to describe skills and experience pertinent to the position (or office) for which you or your nominee is running.
Term: Starting March 26, 2023 for two years, ending approximately March 2025, covering the next Presidential election, which is always an exciting time to be involved.
Eligibility: All currently registered members of Democrats Abroad Canada are eligible unless prohibited (i.e., term limits) per the Democrats Abroad Canada Bylaws. Nominees must be willing to stand for office.
Nomination Deadline: February 9, 2023 11:59 p.m. PT. After nominations are closed, we’ll provide ballots and information on voting by email.
Annual General Meeting: Results will be announced at our AGM at 2 pm ET on March 26. Please save this date in your calendars. Information, including the ability to RSVP will be distributed closer to the event. Nominations may come from the floor at the AGM, if no nominations were received for a particular position.
Board Meetings: Meetings occur monthly and can be attended remotely.
Positions: We are seeking nominations for the following offices:
- Country Chair*
- Executive Vice Chair*
- Two Vice Chairs
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Counsel
- Membership Secretary
- IT Manager
- Volunteer Manager
- Programs and Events Manager
These officers are also elected to serve as DPCA Voting Representatives, per the DA Canada Bylaws.
The Nominations and Elections Committee (NEC) is also seeking nominations for 12 additional Voting Representatives and 2 Alternate DPCA Voting Representatives. As per the by-laws of Democrats Abroad, DPCA Voting Representatives shall be elected in accordance with the gender balance rules of Democrats Abroad.
Please Note: We do not yet know how many DPCA Voting Representatives Canada will be assigned by the DPCA. The candidates for Voting Representatives with the highest votes will be selected to fill the available positions (subject to the gender balance requirement), and the remaining candidates with the next highest votes will be offered positions as Alternate DPCA Voting Representatives.
*Per the DA Canada Bylaws, the DPCA Charter, and DNC Rules, the Chair and Executive Vice-Chair must be of different genders.
