Heidelberg Chapter Monthly Meeting

Dear all,

Please join us on the first Friday of March (5th) 2021 for our monthly meeting!

Discussion Topic:

In the last weeks, we have all seen the disturbing pictures of Texas covered in snow, and millions left without electricity, heat and running water. These images have sparked a discussion on both the reality of climate change as well as the establishment of a sustainable and reliable energy supply. Van has kindly volunteered to lead a discussion on the many ways and costs of reducing CO2 emissions.

For anyone wanting some input ahead of time, Van has recommended the following article  published in the Economist on Feb 27th: https://www.economist.com/finance-and-economics/2021/02/22/what-is-the-cheapest-way-to-cut-carbon. It provides a good basis for talking about energy policy options. Van will talk about these – also in the context of the recent power outages in the southern US. We will also draw on examples form Germany and have time for an open discussion of our own concerns and priorities concerning sustainability and renewables issues.

We are looking forward to an interesting and informative discussion!
